psychokinesis: Also referred to as telekinesis; an alleged ability to move objects or stop time with one’s mind.
Sasquatch: Also known as Bigfoot; a large mammal who walks on two feet and is covered in hair but has yet to be classified formally by mainstream scientists due to lack of evidence.
séance: A meeting in which people gather to communicate with spirits and ghosts.
second sight: A form of extra-sensory perception in which an individual receives information through visions.
SETI: Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence; a collective of different research groups that monitor frequencies in the atmosphere to look for transmissions from another planet or other life forms.
skeptic: An individual who doubts the validity of ghosts, aliens, clairvoyance and other paranormal activities.
sleep paralysis: A state of sleep in which an individual’s brain has awoken while his body remains asleep. Sleep paralysis often leads to hallucinations, some of which have been used to explain visions of spirits and tales of alien abduction.
supernatural: A term used to describe beings and events that cannot currently be explained by the laws of science.
Sylvia Browne: An American psychic and medium who has risen to celebrity status with her purported predictions and messages from the dead.
